Anything Could Happen singer Ellie Goulding, 32, has married her art dealer boyfriend, Caspar Jopling, with royalty and celebrities in attendance.
The pair tied the knot at York Minster Cathedral on Saturday, August 31, and Goulding wore a custom Chloe gown with beaded detailing for the nuptials. Jopling, 27, and the male attendees wore traditional morning suits.
With plenty of very conventional details – top hat and tails, a blusher veil and modest bouquets – apparent on the day, there were also injections of the singer's personality on display. She arrived by blue Volkswagen camper van, rather than by a classic car, and her bridesmaids all donned white, almost-bridal gowns, a departure from the tried-and-tested coloured dresses of typical weddings.
The bride looked overjoyed as she left hand-in-hand with her new husband, with lively crowds surrounding them to celebrate as they departed the cathedral. Unlike the classic ceremony, it has been speculated that the reception would have a festival theme, with guests camping out on site at Castle Howard, around 24 kilometres from York Minster Cathedral.
An A-list guest list
There was no shortage of star power on the wedding guest list. It had been speculated that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Duke and Duchess of Sussex would be at the big day, but there was no sign of them in the wedding photos. Instead, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice were there to represent the royals, along with their mother, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York. In fact, it is rumoured that Princess Eugenie is the "mutual friend" who introduced the singer and the art dealer back in March 2017.
Also at the ceremony were Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, James Blunt and Sienna Miller, representing both the British music scene and Hollywood.
Who is Caspar Jopling?
Old Etonian Caspar Jopling studied at the same school as Princes Harry and William, although at 27 years old, he is 10 years younger than the Duke of Cambridge, so would not have been mingling with him in the playground.
He left the UK for American university Harvard, where he studied film with history of art and architecture. He later took a job at Sotheby's New York, where he was introduced to Goulding. The pair have since moved back to the UK together.
Also an athlete, Jopling competed for Team GB's rowing team in the Youth Olympics.
The couple announced their engagement in August 2018, by placing a formal notice in The Times which read: "Mr CWF Jopling and Miss EJ Goulding.
"The engagement is announced between Caspar, son of The Hon Nicholas Jopling of Yorkshire and Mrs Jayne Warde-Aldam of Yorkshire, and Elena, daughter of Mr Arthur Goulding of Herefordshire and Mrs Tracey Sumner of West Midlands."
Ellie Goulding's handmade dress
The bride chose an embroidered and handmade Chloe dress, which is said to have taken more than 640 hours to make. It was created by designer Natacha Ramsay-Levi.
The ruffled high-necked gown had glass bead detailing and modest long sleeves. She also chose a traditional two-tiered veil, which was embroidered with the bride and groom's initials, E and C.
"I was so thrilled and excited to collaborate with Natacha at Chloe on my wedding dress. I have loved the brand and their incredible team for years, so it only seemed right for Chloe to play big part of this special day," Goulding said in a statement released to celebrity website Just Jared.
"I have never felt more special than the moment I first tried on the dress during my fitting in Paris. It was utterly awe-inspiring to see the craftsmanship and attention to detail."
Jopling wore a morning suit tailored by Savile Row's Huntsman and Sons.

Ten tax points to be aware of in 2026
1. Domestic VAT refund amendments: request your refund within five years
If a business does not apply for the refund on time, they lose their credit.
2. E-invoicing in the UAE
Businesses should continue preparing for the implementation of e-invoicing in the UAE, with 2026 a preparation and transition period ahead of phased mandatory adoption.
3. More tax audits
Tax authorities are increasingly using data already available across multiple filings to identify audit risks.
4. More beneficial VAT and excise tax penalty regime
Tax disputes are expected to become more frequent and more structured, with clearer administrative objection and appeal processes. The UAE has adopted a new penalty regime for VAT and excise disputes, which now mirrors the penalty regime for corporate tax.
5. Greater emphasis on statutory audit
There is a greater need for the accuracy of financial statements. The International Financial Reporting Standards standards need to be strictly adhered to and, as a result, the quality of the audits will need to increase.
6. Further transfer pricing enforcement
Transfer pricing enforcement, which refers to the practice of establishing prices for internal transactions between related entities, is expected to broaden in scope. The UAE will shortly open the possibility to negotiate advance pricing agreements, or essentially rulings for transfer pricing purposes.
7. Limited time periods for audits
Recent amendments also introduce a default five-year limitation period for tax audits and assessments, subject to specific statutory exceptions. While the standard audit and assessment period is five years, this may be extended to up to 15 years in cases involving fraud or tax evasion.
8. Pillar 2 implementation
Many multinational groups will begin to feel the practical effect of the Domestic Minimum Top-Up Tax (DMTT), the UAE's implementation of the OECD’s global minimum tax under Pillar 2. While the rules apply for financial years starting on or after January 1, 2025, it is 2026 that marks the transition to an operational phase.
9. Reduced compliance obligations for imported goods and services
Businesses that apply the reverse-charge mechanism for VAT purposes in the UAE may benefit from reduced compliance obligations.
10. Substance and CbC reporting focus
Tax authorities are expected to continue strengthening the enforcement of economic substance and Country-by-Country (CbC) reporting frameworks. In the UAE, these regimes are increasingly being used as risk-assessment tools, providing tax authorities with a comprehensive view of multinational groups’ global footprints and enabling them to assess whether profits are aligned with real economic activity.
