Is this where Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are tying the knot?

Last week, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas obtained their wedding license in Los Angeles, having filed the necessary paperwork with the Beverly Hills courthouse. And while the date and location of the wedding have yet to be confirmed, it is believed the couple will tie the knot between November 30 and December 2, in a three day affair with 200 guests in attendance.

The Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur has been hotly tipped as the venue for the upcoming nuptials, which would be fitting, given that the lavish property was named best hotel in India, second best hotel in Asia and third best hotel in the world, in the 2018 Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice award.

The last of India’s great palaces, Umaid Bhawan is the abode of Maharaja Gaj Singh II of Marwar-Jodhpur. It was built between 1929 and 1942 by the present maharaja’s grandfather, Umaid Singh II, and envisaged as a modern antithesis to Mehrangarh Fort, which has sat majestically on a hilltop overlooking the Blue City since the mid-1600s.

The 374-room property is set on 26 acres of land, making it one of the largest residences in the world. It has been managed by Taj Hotels since 2005, when it was painstakingly refurbished. The Chopra/Jonas wedding party will be able to stroll through its perfectly manicured lawns and colourful gardens, which often feature in Bollywood movies, visit a private museum dedicated to the maharaja’s classic car collection, or sweat it out in the palace’s marbled squash courts.

In its emblematic architecture, the palace makes a nod to two other historic marvels, Cambodia’s Angkor Wat and India’s Taj Mahal. Rooms can go from around Dh3,000 up to 52,000 per night, but the hotel is not currently accepting bookings for the weekend of November 30.
