Facebook Inc's Instagram app was down on Wednesday for some users across the UAE, with outages noticable for more than an hour. Several other cities across the world including London, San Francisco and Singapore also experienced problems, but the app and desktop site now both appear to be working again.
The service was not working on both the desktop site and mobile app. Users on the mobile app received a "Couldn't refresh feed" error message, while if you tried to log on to the Instagram website, a "5xx Server Error" message appeared.
Facebook and Instagram were not immediately available to comment.
Service outage of the photo-sharing service app has also been reported in Europe, Australia, North America, India, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Instagram was acquired by Facebook Inc in 2012. Kevin Systrom, CEO and co-founder of Instagram announced last month that he would be leaving the company.
