Inside Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas's engagement

The duo went from a traditional puja in the morning to a wild-looking party in the evening, five-carat ring in tow

Bollywood actress and one-time Miss World Priyanka Chopra and musician beau Nick Jonas got engaged in a traditional roka ceremony in her Mumbai home on the morning of August 18. This ceremony is all about the bride-to-be and groom's families officially acknowledging that their children will tie the knot, and it typically involves an exchange of gifts, much feeding of sweetmeats and, of course, the ring.

Chopra's 5-carat square-cut diamond ring is from Tiffany & Co. Rumour has it, Jonas arranged to have the London boutique all to himself when he bought the (reportedly) Dh735,000 sparkler, which was first spotted when Raveena Tandon posted a selfie along with Chopra.

Jonas apparently proposed on July 18 - Chopra's birthday - in London. At the roka, Chopra teamed the ring with a yellow salwar-kameez with an embroidered white border, while Jonas kept his outfit simple and traditional in a white kurta-pyjama.

Jonas's parents, Paul Kevin and Denise, were part of the ceremony, although his brothers, Joe, Kevin and Frankie, were unable to attend. Joe and fiancée, Sophie Turner, gave a shout-out to their "beautiful future sister-in-law", though.

The roka was followed by a party for close friends and family later the same evening. The guest list included Bollywood bigwigs Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Vishal Bhardwaj and Chopra's cousin, Parineeti, as well as industrialist Mukesh Ambani. Interestingly, despite reports of yet another fallout between Chopra and Salman Khan when she walked away from his upcoming film Bharat, Khan's sister, Arpita, was part of the celebration along with her husband Aayush Sharma.

Chopra wore a svelte but simple beige gown, while Jonas put up an Instagram video that shows him bobbing his head to the music in a printed collared tee and white sneakers.

A wedding date has not been confirmed yet, but we will definitely keep you updated.
