Despite being one of the most beautiful women in the world, a regular on red carpets and a highly successful actress, the notoriously private Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has never been fond of throwing showy parties.
Case in point: Aishwarya has just rung in her 45th birthday with an intimate gathering that included her mum, a few close friends and her husband, Abhishek Bachchan, who planned the bash as a surprise for his wife of 11 years.
Aishwarya put up this picture with her mum, Vrinda Rai, with a portrait of her late father in the background, captioned: "Thank you both. Blessed. Love you eternally."
Doting husband Abhishek put paid to any rumours of the couple having separated with his own Instagram post: "Happy Birthday Wife. I love you. #MyHappyPlace."
The couple and their daughter, Aradhya, were also spotted at Mumbai airport on Thursday morning, catching a flight to the balmy beaches of Goa.
The team handling the actress's "news" page on Instagram, meanwhile, put up this somewhat creepy Photoshopped image of the actress on Halloween.
