For those who have always dreamt of owning a little piece of The Big Apple, Trainspotters has just the thing. The UK-based company, which specialises in reclaimed industrial lighting and decorative salvage, has got its hands on these original, iconic New York street signs. As featured in countless Hollywood movies, the signs illuminate to read "Walk" or "Don't Walk".

"Our batch of signs sat in a storeroom and never made it onto the streets - they became surplus in 1999, when the decision was made to replace these NYC icons with an LED graphic version more suited to a culturally diverse populace," the company's website says.

The 6.8kg signs can be wall mounted or suspended, and measure 48cm by 48cm by 23cm deep. Made of a mixture of cast aluminium and vandal-proof tempered glass, they were built to last. They have all been fitted with completely new circuitry and E27 bulb holders, and are designed to flash at timed intervals. And they come in NYC yellow, so all you need is the matching taxi cab.
