1 Animal magic
We love the Pony rug, which highlights Alexander McQueen’s skill at reworking traditional animal motifs. It calls to mind a Rorschach inkblot test – if you stare long enough, who knows what you’ll discover in the fluid, monochrome pattern.

2 A fiery finish
The Monarch Fire rug embraces a butterfly motif, but takes a more abstract approach. Hand-woven in silk, the rug’s shimmering, peppery hues make for a dramatic statement piece.

3 Folkloric detail
The new collection of rugs, wall-hangings and cushions is both “pagan and bohemian” in spirit, according to Alexander McQueen’s creative director Sarah Burton. The scale and intricate detailing of the Folklore wall-hanging is reminiscent of traditional tapestries and features an artful blend of folkloric references, classic florals, bold colours and contemporary geometrics.

4 Colourful cushions
A beautiful swarm of butterflies flits across the Monarch cushion, which is made from hand-embroidered wool and silk Aubusson in a warm, autumnal palette.

5 In bloom
Inspired by macro floral imagery, the Poppy Day wall-hanging closes in on a classic floral bloom to the point of abstraction. Finely woven in the Aubusson tapestry tradition, it’ll make a enticing, eye-catching addition to any wall.
