The location
Zero Gravity Dubai is located at SkyDive Dubai near Dubai Marina and JBR. Coming from Abu Dhabi on a Thursday night, the roads were a little busy (with people likely getting ready to kickstart their weekend). We had never been to the area before and after turning into SkyDive Dubai’s open field, we were a little confused as to where the entrance to Zero Gravity actually was. However, we soon found parking and made our way to the venue.
The atmosphere
While the event was originally supposed to be outdoors, it got moved inside because of the weather. We arrived a few minutes early to the brunch, and had to wait until 8pm to officially get led upstairs.
Once we were up, we took a stroll around to see the layout of everything. There were food stations inside and outside. Another room contained games including a giant Jenga set, ping-pong tables, two retro arcade video games, and more which was a great way to meet other at the brunch.
There was an outdoor area that had beautiful views of the beach and the Dubai Marina. Despite not having a dress code, most in attendance were definitely dressed to impress.
The food
Inside there were different little table set-ups that included an area to get your own popcorn or have a homemade crepe. Another table consisted of fancy mini bites including sushi, prawn cocktails, chicken hazelnut and raisin terrine, salmon carpaccio, citrus burrata and tomato coulis, and more.
Further down there was another simple cheese and bread table. Outside, the hot food was served in a buffet style setting and included a random array of salmon wellington, steak, hot dogs on a bun, potato wedges and corn on the cob.
However, our favourite table was the dessert one which consisted of everything from cake to chocolate tarts to little chocolate mousse cups. The ‘exotica’ (which is a mix of mango cremeux and cheesecake) as well as the caramel chocolate bar are highly recommended for those with a sweet tooth.
Overall, the food offered felt more like snack bites rather than something to fill our stomachs on.
Who’s it best for?
People who are looking for a fun way to get their weekend started.
The verdict
While the food wasn’t particularly memorable, the brunch lives up to its name. If you’re feeling social and want to have fun and loosen up, I’d recommend going.
