It’s hard to even talk about this new promotion at Spikes restaurant at Al Badia Golf Club in Dubai without getting a little queasy. Though, if you’re obsessed with burgers, this might be just the sort of challenge you’re looking for.
Three months ago, Spikes started tempting its diners with a burger-eating challenge. Eat their RTJ burger and a side of fries in 45 minutes and you get the meal for free (with a free polo shirt to boot). The catch? This mammoth burger is 1,200 grams of beef, 400 grams of smoked cheddar cheese and 600 grams of brioche smashed in a larger than life hamburger bun. You also have to get through the 200 grams of fries. On a diet? Stay away.
The odds are not in your favour to win this challenge: 32 people have tried. Only one has finished it. If you don’t eat it all, be prepared to pony up some dough. The cost of the RTJ burger, which is named after Robert Trent Jones, II (the golf architect who designed the course), is Dh295.
