Take a culinary journey through Japan at Toko Dubai this month. The Japanese restaurant at Vida Downtown is celebrating everything from Tokyo street food to traditional Kyoto cuisine in their Taste of Japan festival this month.
Toko chef Alexander Stumpf has designed a five-course meal with dishes from five regions of Japan. The dinner starts with Tokyo street food with takoyaki and tuna tataki with ginger lime soy. Then you’ll get grilled scallop apple and wasabi and scampi nigiri with foie gras and black truffle from Fukuoka, which is known for its fresh seafood. Then, from Kyota, you’ll get traditional Japanese cuisine in the form of short ribs gyoza with wasabi ponzu and chicken yakitori. The fourth course is a grilled, smoked miso-marinated salmon and nasu miso inspired by Hokkaido, where robatayaki originates. And the meal ends with spiced pineapple with kuro goma ice cream from Osaka, a city known for its sweets.
The five-course Taste of Japan meal is available from 6pm to 10pm throughout March. Dh295. For reservations, call 04 442 8383.
