The UAE is home to arguably the most diverse range of authentic food concepts from around the world - now some of the best are available in one convenient, outdoor location.
Street Food Market DXB is back for its final weekend and features more than 20 UAE-based international food vendors serving up dishes running the gamut from camel burgers to Nepalese-Japanese fusion to Portuguese sweets.
The concept was created by Dubai-based cultural entrepreneur Alexandre Teodoresco, and brings the best of Dubai’s mobile food vendors and hidden gastronomic gems to one pop-up location.
For a Dh10 entry fee, guests can enjoy the delicacies of various cultures in a strictly adults-only zone.
The venue, directly beside Barasti at Dubai International Marine Club, has been decorated in a funky, industrial-chic decor with plenty of metal barrels, wooden pallets, colourful chairs and an abundance of fairy lights. The overall effect is a vibe that’s eclectic and urban. Record albums, cassette tapes and retro appliances add to the decor - a nod to nostalgic expats who can tuck into foods they grew up on or enjoyed on travels abroad.
Notable is the chicken sandwich from Al Basta, which sells Beiruti comfort food. The bread is crunchy and sweet, holds delicious pulled chicken, garlic sauce and pickle - it is said to be the ideal post-clubbing midnight street snack in Beirut.
The Zapiekanka is another great find. It serves authentic Polish, open-faced, toasted sandwiches of sausages, mushrooms and creamy sauce. Cafe Isan, which boldly claims to be “100,000,000% Thai food” serves the tastes of northeastern Thailand, including a plate of lightly sweet and savoury spring rolls that’s not to be missed. There’s also tantalising raclette, truffle fries you’ll never forget, shawarmas, crepes, smoked meats, burgers, wings, and so much more.
Local DJs spin current and retro hits, keeping the vibe fun and relaxing at all times. There is even a mechanical bull if you want to showcase your inner cowboy. The venue is licensed and soft drinks are available at stalls.
