Nicole Scherzinger brought a taste of celebrity to Taste of Dubai at the weekend when she appeared at the event’s British Airways VIP Hospitality Lounge. The former Pussycat Doll wasn’t giving interviews, but we did overhear that she’s “really excited” about her future solo music projects. She added: “Dubai is one of my favorite cities, as it has everything a girl could want. I was delighted to join British Airways in their VIP Lounge at Taste of Dubai and enjoy world-class service and exquisite British hospitality. I thoroughly enjoyed sampling the incredible choice of culinary delights on offer, thank you British Airways, it was Scher-mazing.”
Aside from Scherzinger’s appearance, other highlights in the BA Lounge were some lovely, and oh-so-British, scones with clotted cream and Scottish raspberry jam. Out in the arena proper, meanwhile, Almaz by Momo’s cheese triangles and lamb tagine with prunes and apricots went down a treat, while Gaucho’s churrasco de chorizo (marinated spiral-cut sirloin) was, I must admit, a little underwhelming. My vegetarian companion gave a massive thumbs up to Cafe Armani’s gnocchi while, sadly, having left my wallet at our table and having the wrong sort of food voucher, a second attempt at sampling The Cheesecake Factory’s wares this year was foiled. As something of a cheesecake fanatic, I promise I’ll get there eventually.
