Dubai’s dining scene is known for its decadence and a brand-new dish fits in perfectly with this sparkling ethos.

Fine-dining Chinese restaurant Hakkasan Dubai, located in Atlantis, The Palm, has recently announced it will be serving guests a 22-karat gold-coated duck in celebration of China’s Golden Week.

Golden Week commemorates the formal establishment of the People’s Republic of China and is usually celebrated in early October.

The limited-edition edible gold dish will be available at the restaurant until Sunday, October 25.

The extravagant dish will be served as part of a three-course menu and will be bought to the table to be prepared before being served. Other dishes include Peking duck with pancakes, crispy duck salad and roasted truffle duck as a main.

The three-course meal is priced at Dh418 per person and guests can order a caviar upgrade for Dh518 per person.

This is not the first time the swanky restaurant has put a sprinkling of gold on their menu. The Abu Dhabi branch within Emirates Palace currently serves a gold leaf har gau as part of its supreme dim sum platter (priced at Dh135).

Dubai is no stranger to gilded dishes, either. In the past, numerous restaurants have been given the Midas touch. Scroll through the gallery above for some of Dubai’s most opulent dishes and drinks.
