Lovers of seafood may want to cast their line in the direction of the recently opened Sheraton Grand, Sheikh Zayed Road’s Feast restaurant this Thursday, or any other Thursday, to check out the new Simply Seafood Thursday night.
The night promises a full, fresh seafood market, as well as bespoke live cooking stations dedicated to all the best bits of the sea from a range of cuisines, with none of the associated dangers of pirates, sunburn or jellyfish stings.
We headed down to the event’s press launch, where executive chef Malcolm Webster had laid on a host of treats that suggest this will be a step above your predictable fried calamari and baked hammour affair.
A multi-course feast consisting of delicacies like scallop, sea trout (I’m not sure how this differs from river trout, save that I didn’t even know it existed, and it’s very tasty) and yellow fin tuna tatar seemed to just keep coming, and there was even a juicy slow braised beef cheek for any seafood-haters that had mistakenly wandered in.
A sommelier was also on hand to ensure that each of our moreish (if ultimately too muchish) seven courses were perfectly matched on the beverage side, and with prices from just 210AED, this could well become quite a catch for lovers of all things briny and barnacled.
