Dubai Foodie News: Comptoir 102 opens for dinner, savoury tea at Fortnum & Mason and dates announced for Dubai Food Festival

• Comptoir 102, the trendy, organic cafe on Jumeirah road is now open for dinner. The cafe, known for its wholesome menu and seasonal, local and organic produce is now open from 8am until 11pm every night, though they’ll stop serving dinner at 10:30pm. The menu changes daily, according to what’s in season and market buys. For more information, call 04 385 4555.

• Fortnum & Mason is adding savoury flavours to their afternoon tea. Along with finger sandwiches and scones, guests can now get a proper meal from the tea menu. Highlights include the lobster omelette, braised lamb shoulder, cornfed chicken with wild mushrooms, crab soufflé and butternut squash risotto. Fortnum & Mason, downtown Dubai, is open from 9am to midnight. For reservations, call 04 388 2627.

• Mark your calendars. The annual Dubai Food Festival will start February 6. The dates for the 22-day gastronomic event were announced yesterday. Visitors at the second installation of the festival will see the return of the Beach Canteen, a popular element from last year’s show where pop-up versions of Dubai’s favourite restaurants line up along Kite Beach. The festival will feature an array of events, restaurant promotions, cookery demonstrations with international chefs, kids’ activities and more. A full schedule of events will be released in the coming weeks.
