The location:

Located out on the peninsula that surrounds Jumeirah Beach Hotel’s harbour, 360 is something of a Dubai institution. Long has it been the place that residents and tourists head to for a drink at sunset, while fans of al fresco house music consider it a second home after midnight. There’s a downstairs restaurant-cum-lounge which basks in mauve lowlight and plays ambient beats. While the upper decks — as the venue’s name suggests — have 360 degree views of Dubai’s coastline and split level seating. Perch on a barstool at the very top and, with the wind in your hair, feel like you’re skippering a glamorous yacht on the high seas.

The atmosphere:

As luck would have it, on the night I dined at 360 there was something of a tempest brewing in the UAE and my guest and I were forced to retreat inside. Which actually turned out to be no bad thing, as we loved watching the dramatic breakers pound the panoramic windows next to where we sat. We also had an unfettered view of the Burj Al Arab which considerately put on a light-show while we dined.

The food:

For the comparatively low ‘brunch package price’, our expectations for the food, weren’t too high. Our eyes grew wide, however, when an enormous mirrored platter of Japanese cuisine was delivered to the table. The selection was superb and quickest to disappear was the vegetable maki, crystal shrimp dim sum and eel nigiri. As if that wasn’t enough, mini burgers, succulent chicken skewers, and cheese-laden nachos swiftly followed, leaving us thoroughly sated.

The verdict:

The new Thursday offering from 360 is a very affordable end-of-week treat which, while it may not be a traditional brunch, is a truly inspired idea. An added bonus is that the venue is multifunctional, and those wanting to carry on the party after 10pm can simply headed upstairs for shisha and some shape-shifting.

Be aware, however, things may have changed a bit since you visited Jumeirah Beach Hotel last. For starters, you’ll be asked to present your passport or national ID card at the hotel’s side entrance where you pick up buggies to transport you to 360. You’ll also need to present it at 360’s door, where ladies will have their bags checked as standard too. Other than that, my recommendation would be for you to put on your dancing shoes, feast on the sushi and enjoy the sea views.

The 180 degree brunch at 360 takes place every Thursday from 7-10pm. Packages start from Dh295 per person. To make a reservation call 044068532 or go to
