Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have never been afraid to have a little fun. So when they noticed the number of fake branded T-shirts being worn on the streets of Naples in the run-up to their fashion shows, they decided to create their own irony-laden versions — and the hashtag #DGtherealfake was born.
They were particularly inspired by one T-shirt that read ““Io C’ero” or “I was there” and so for the finale of their spring/summer 2017 runway show, 91 models walked the catwalk wearing a white T-shirt emblazoned with those same words, in a plethora of languages.
For those wanting to get in on the fun, the T-shirts will be on sale at Dolce & Gabbana stores from February, with prices starting at Dh4,000. With colourful embroidered roses, poppies and daisies, and a smattering of sparkling crystals, these T-shirts are trademark D&G. We imagine we’ll see lots of the Arabic versions around in months to come.
