The biggest night in America's awards season is here, but, for many, the true excitement of any Oscars night lies in its red carpet.
The Academy Awards red carpet was extra glam in 2020, with plenty of stars wearing custom looks, including Cynthia Erivo (in Atelier Versace), Saoirse Ronan (in Gucci) and Janelle Monae (in Ralph Lauren) all wearing go-big-or-go-home and directional gowns.
In a true fashion statement, Natalie Portman wore a custom cape by Dior embroidered with the names of all the female directors who weren't nominated this year. The names running down the front of her cape included Greta Gerwig (Little Women), Lorene Scafaria (Hustlers) and Lulu Wang (The Farewell). Not a single woman is nominated in the best director category this year.
Mindy Kaling looked so striking in yellow Dolce & Gabbana, Egyptian superstar Youssra looked regal in Zuhair Murad and Caitriona Balfe melded old Hollywood with a modern sensibility in Valentino SS20 couture.
