When the child cast of the cult Netflix television show Stranger Things visited the Louis Vuitton headquarters at the invitation of the brand's creative director, Nicolas Ghesquière, it seemed like an odd pairing. Were they going to star in an upcoming campaign? Were they being gifted clothing? Would the next Louis Vuitton Alma bag get named after the star character Eleven?

A little more than a year later, Ghesquière professed his fandom of the show again, with nothing less than a runway tribute. A promotional poster for the show appeared on a black T-shirt, which was paired over a printed, billowy blouse. And while the combination of pop culture with high fashion certainly impressed onlookers, the look was hardly a one-off highlight. Model after model tromped down the catwalk in outfits that celebrated futuristic femininity with nods to the past. Jacquard vests, for instance, were abundant, and little accents, like the buckle from a vintage trunk appearing as a brooch, were tastefully added.

Skinny, retro sunglasses, sporty trainers and a range of new-season handbags in varying shapes and sizes completed the looks. View some of our favourites in the gallery above.
