Bollywood-Hollywood star Priyanka Chopra has been spotted out in New York City wearing a jacket from the Spring/Summer '19 collection of Madiyah Al Sharqi.
The 36-year-old Indian actress wore the chartreuse look on Tuesday: it features dual sleeves - with the top half a puff sleeve, and the forearm a paisley print. The jacket is belted, however, Chopra chose to wear it open.
It retails for Dh3,400 (USD925).
The designer, Sheikha Madiyah Al Sharqi is a member of the ruling family of Fujairah. The jacket is a fitting choice for newlywed Chopra, considering Al Sharqi said she was inspired by India for the collection that the piece is a part of:
“I was amazed by all the different cultures, landscapes and their warm hospitality," she says of India. "We’ve always had Indian influences in the UAE but I discovered that India was much more than what I thought. Visiting India really is a dream, getting familiar with and admiring the country’s rich culture, history and architecture.”
More specifically, the Spring/Summer collection is inspired by the imagery to come from former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy's 1962 visit to India - hence the paisley and retro yellow-green.
Chopra is not the first famous face to show a liking for Al Sharqi pieces. Last year, Vanessa Hudgens wore a jumpsuit by the label, singer Lorde chose an Al Sharqi look for her world tour. And, in 2014, Kim Kardashian famously visited the designer's showroom.
