Meghan Markle unveils charity clothing line to help unemployed women

The Duchess of Sussex unveiled the capsule collection in London

Meghan Markle has launched a clothing line for a British charity that helps unemployed women find work.

The Duchess of Sussex  showcased a collection of workwear and accessories she created with designer and friend Misha Nonoo during a reception at a John Lewis department store on Oxford Street, London on Thursday.

The line includes professional attire such as a blazer, tote bag and trousers. For every item of clothing sold, another will be donated to charity Smart Works, for which the Duchess is royal patron.

The charity provides clothing for unemployed women to help them through the interview process and until they receive their first pay cheque.

"As women, it is 100 per cent our responsibility, I think, to support and uplift each other," she said at the launch.

Meghan also worked alongside British brands Marks & Spencer, John Lewis and Jigsaw to create the collection.

Thursday's reception, which came on the same day as the start of London Fashion Week, was one of her first royal engagements since the birth of her and Prince Harry's son, Archie, in May.
