It's not Dorothea and it's definitely not 'Zigi'.
After months of speculation, Gigi Hadid has finally revealed the name of her daughter with beau Zayn Malik, and it wasn't a moniker that fans appeared to be expecting.
The four-month-old is, in fact, named Khai.
Hadid updated her Instagram account on Friday, January 22, divulging the name in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it addition to her bio details on the social media platform.
"Khai's mom," the supermodel's account now states.
Hadid, 25, and Malik, 28, welcomed their firstborn in September, and had until now remained tight-lipped about their daughter's name, leading fans to dub the baby "Zigi". Khai was earlier rumoured to be named Dorothea, after Taylor Swift, a friend of the couple, released a track of that title on her album Evermore.
The newborn's name is reportedly a tribute to Hadid's Palestinian grandmother, Khairiah, the mother of real-estate developer Mohamed Hadid.
The name also has Arabic links, with Khai translated to mean 'crowned' or 'royalty' in English. The full name of Khairiah, meanwhile, means 'good' and 'charitable'.
The tot was born in September, with Hadid marking Khai turning four months old on Thursday, January 21.
"My girl. Four months and the best kid," she captioned a photo posted to her Instagram Stories.
While former One Direction star Malik and Hadid are yet to share many images of their daughter, they have posted glimpses of the newborn since her birth, such as shots featuring her hand or family portraits with her face obscured.
Hadid this week also revealed she first discovered she was pregnant during New York Fashion Week, telling a fan on Twitter she found out she was expecting "the day before the Tom Ford show", which fell on February 6, 2020.
"I was so nauseous backstage but I learnt I could kinda control it if I continuously ate, so my mom would pack me snacks before each show," the model wrote.
News of Hadid's pregnancy was first revealed in April, and the model later confirmed the news to US chat show host Jimmy Fallon, saying the couple were “extremely happy and excited”.
The model and Malik have been in an on and off relationship since 2015. They broke up for a period in 2018, but it was confirmed they were back together in December 2019.
