Keen skaters and BMX-ers will be happy to hear that Fujairah Adventure Park is now open. The massive park includes a 1,800-square-metre asphalt pump track, that has been built near the city centre of Fujairah.
It is suitable for skateboards, BMXs, roller-skates, scooters, longboards, mountain bikes, city bikes and balance bikes. There is a separate section for children to practise in, and the rest of the track has obstacles suitable for beginners, intermediate and advanced skaters and riders.
It has been built by Velosolutions, an international pump track manufacturer behind parks in Switzerland, Austria and Germany.
The park is free to use, and it has been reported that a rental shop will be opening soon. It has also been hinted that similar parks are set to open in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
According to Velosolutions, pump tracks " provide a playground for kids and adults alike, from beginners to professionals".
The company is also affiliated with Pump for Peace, a non-profit organisation that aims to give children in underprivileged communities access to the sport.
The Pump for Peace website says: "[We introduce kids] to a healthy, respectful and tolerant lifestyle and believes that this, ultimately, will change the world.
"Pump for Peace facilitates the construction of a Velosolutions Pump Track, access to bikes, gear and support cyclists/teams, workshops and cooperations with youth organisations in underprivileged regions [and] raises the necessary funding and supports local charities to realise these projects. It focuses on sustainable initiatives and cooperates with governments, local organisations, musicians, local companies and involves the local community."
