The team behind Sanderson’s Abu Dhabi – Sergio Lopez (of Tom & Serg fame) and chef Troy Payne – have their sights trained on a Dubai destination next. This won’t be any old restaurant, either, but what they’re calling a “lifestyle complex”, named The Pangolin. The two-floor, 5,575-square-metre space will be an extension of the Els Club in Dubai Sports City. On the ground floor, a deli will serve freshly baked breads and pastry, while an all-day restaurant on the ground floor will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A restaurant and bar on the first level will serve lunch and dinner, and there’s also a terrace with an open fire pit. While dish details are still under wraps, we are told “the menu features dishes with an African twist on traditional European flavours”. The complex will also include a swimming pool and gym. The Pangolin will open in early 2020, but you can check out similar concepts such as Al Seef on Dubai Creek, The Yard at Al Khawaneej, Club Vista Mare and La Mer in Dubai this winter.
