GTA V, multi-record holder Grand Theft Auto V may not have made it to the UAE’s shores yet, but given that this is a country rather fond of its world records, it might be worth hearing some of the Guinness gongs it has picked up in just a few weeks. Since its release on September 17, GTA V has achieved the record of the fastest entertainment property to gross US$1 billion (Dh3.7b), the fastest video game to gross $1 billion, the highest-grossing video game in 24 hours, the highest revenue generated by an entertainment product in 24 hours, the best-selling video game in 24 hours, the best-selling action-adventure video game in 24 hours and the most-viewed trailer for an action-adventure video game. It’s also possibly the most violent, but that’s a difficult one to judge accurately.
