ABU DHABI // Talks were held between recreational fishing representatives and the Federal Transport Authority with a view to better preserving fish stocks and regulating the pastime.
The authority and the Fishermen Cooperative Society met in the presence of Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works and chairman of the National Land and Marine Transportation Authority.
Dr Al Nuami heard the fishermen’s proposals to improve services and preserve fish stocks, and urged the society to hold workshops and programmes with the federal authority.
The meeting also discussed the development of fisheries port infrastructure, with Dr Al Nuaimi noting that a number of port development projects have been completed in the Northern Emirates.
