More Emiratis are visiting Egypt

ABU DHABI // The number of Emiratis travelling to Egypt on holiday increased by more than 300 per cent from June to July this year, according to the Egyptian Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

Shoaib Abdel Fatta, a media advisor at the Embassy, said there was a significant rise in the number of tourists from the gulf region to Egypt, especially from the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

During the same period, the number of Saudi tourists holidaying in Egypt rose by 268 per cent, slightly below Kuwait, at 269 per cent, the state news agency Wam reported.

Mr Fatta accredited the rise to the increased stability in Egypt, adding that tourism is expected to increase by between 5 and 10 per cent this year, and 15 to 20 per cent the following.
