DUBAI // Excited shoppers slept overnight outside a Dubai Mall shoe shop to bag a much-hyped pair of trainers.
“I’ve been queuing here since last night, since 12am,” said Camille Clavaton who came with her friends, Dianne Padernal and Rhea Nayus.
The 23-year-old Filipina, who has lived in Dubai for eight months, did not mind waiting up to 24 hours for a pair of limited-edition adidas Yeezy Boost 350, which she plans to give to her brother.
“If it’s for our loved ones, why not?” she said, as she queued up outside the Level Shoe District shop yesterday.
The trainers, which were designed by the rapper Kanye West, cost Dh890 and are extremely popular, said Vipin Paul, 26, a sales executive at the shop.
“We’re selling only about 25 pairs,” he said.
“It is being endorsed by a celebrity, Kanye West, which explains the hype and the long queues since last night.”
In the UK, fashion fanatics started queuing up to 48 hours before the trainers went on sale.
They are priced at £160 (Dh924) there but it has been reported that pairs are selling online for more than £600.
