Dubai hosts celebrity photographer

DUBAI // Work by the photographer famous for taking images of Princess Diana will be displayed in the Middle East for the first time at an exhibition in Dubai.

Mario Testino OBE has joined a collaboration with UAE brand Ginza fashion to show work combining fashion and art at a pop-up gallery in the heart of Dubai’s Design District, d3.

The Heat exhibition will open on Thursday, February 25, and runs until Friday, April 15.

The Peruvian photographer made his name capturing images of some of the world’s most famous supermodels, including Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Gisele Bundchen, Natalia Vodianova and Cara Delevingne.

He is also famous for working with fashion houses Gucci, Burberry and Versace, and magazines including Vogue, Vanity Fair and GQ.

Some of his work will be shown publicly for the first time, alongside shots from his acclaimed Peru series, Alta Moda – a tribute to his South American roots.

“I am so excited that my work will be exhibited in the Middle East, in Dubai, for the first time,” said the 61-year-old.

“My endless curiosity has contributed to the diversity of my work, and this curiosity extends to the different cultures, people and places I have explored throughout my career.

“Looking at this exhibition, I feel you see this, and Dubai is a perfect place to present it, with its constantly evolving creativity. I am eager to see and experience the impact that Dubai will make on my work.”
