SHARJAH // Sharjah Police is to post virtual reality videos of what officers get up to in real life on its social media platforms.
Officers will broadcast the VR videos to let the public see what police get up to on the job, though in a virtual environment. Videos will also include informative documentaries to raise awareness of certain issues.
VR technology uses software-generated imagery and sounds to replicate a real-life environment and scenarios.
Police said the videos will offer a glimpse of them in action and that they will be shown as soon as the real-life events have ended.
Officers will monitor feedback from viewers and gauge their opinion on actions taken.
Sharjah Police media centre said the use of VR technology is through a campaign called “Share the event”, which aims to better interact with the public.
