ABU DHABI // Samsung users in the UAE will be able to exchange their Galaxy Note 7 devices until the end of the year.
The company had been ordered to stop sales and shipments of the Note 7 because of defects that reportedly caused the batteries to catch fire or explode.
UAE Note 7 users can visit selected Samsung stores to exchange their devices. So far, 60 per cent of Note 7 users in the US, South Korea and Europe have exchanged their old devices with new ones, Samsung Gulf Electronics said on Wednesday.
Customers can also exchange their phones at designated locations such as at the Dubai World Trade Centre and GITEX from October 1–8.
“Samsung is fully confident that the battery issue has been completely resolved in the replacement Galaxy Note 7 devices that will be available to customers in the UAE from Wednesday,” Samsung Gulf Electronics said.
For further details on locations across the emirate, customers can visit www.samsung.com/ae/note7exchange, or call 800 726 7864.
