DUBAI // More than 3,000 people have downloaded the Dubai Police smart application since it was updated last week, with more than 77,000 previous users updating with the new version.

The Dubai Police smart app, which contains 75 services, was updated on November 5 for iOS devices and included new and improved features.

“We will soon launch the update for Android devices that will also have new features that will make the app more user-friendly,” said Col Khaled Nasser Al Razooqi, director of the Smart Services Department.

“Since November 5, 3,096 people have downloaded the Dubai Police app, approximately 516 users per day; and 77,776 people have updated their police application, approximately 12,963 per day.”

Most people use the app to pay traffic fines with Dubai Police, he said, with more than 50,000 views on the fine payment page registered in both Arabic and English.

Col Al Razooqi said that users can now sign up to MyID and use their personal profile to follow up on the processing of paperwork and to report small traffic offences via the We Are All Police system.

“Users can now take a video of a traffic offence, write alongside it a complaint, which will immediately be transferred to Dubai Police along with the exact location from where the complaint is made from,” he said, adding that about 1,000 minor traffic offence reports have been received since the launch of the feature last month.

However, he warned that no one should post pictures or videos of traffic offences online.

One of the new features of the software update is an emergency button that directly connects the user with the police hotline. Other features include picking favourite sections and rearranging icons to suit.
