Spread across more than half an acre and and so large that it can fit 10 en suite king-size bedrooms: welcome to the largest hotel suite in Abu Dhabi - the 2,455 square metre Royal Mangroves Residence.
The vast set of private rooms that was officially opened at a lavish party last week takes up the top two floors of the Thai hotel operator Anantara's new Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa on Salam Street in the capital and, at a cost starting from Dh55,000 (nearly US$15,000) a night before taxes, it is clearly aimed at visiting royalty, dignitaries and celebrities.
For this princely sum guests can lounge in the suite's private 60 square metre infinity pool, sip a drink at the swim-up bar, throw a lavish dinner party courtesy of the suite's private chef or relax with a bit of pampering care from the massage and beauty therapist also thrown into the deal. And of course the suite comes with its own private entrance and butler.
And Abu Dhabi's Tourism Development and Investment Company, the hotel owner, has not scrimped on the furnishings either.
The suite includes a large private rooftop garden, free-standing bathtubs offering scenic views over the 1.2 kilometre stretch of mangrove swamps below, and a number of plush dining and sitting rooms embellished by intricate mosaics and 18-carat gold leaf designs.
For those travelling with large retinues, Anantara says that it is able to block off further rooms in the hotel to include them in the suite configuration - suitable for anyone who needs to accommodate numbers of security personnel and bodyguards. David Garner, the regional director of sales and marketing, told The National that a number of high-level officials had already booked the suite.
"Abu Dhabi absolutely needs a suite of this size," he said at the launch party. "It's perfect for visiting dignitaries and VIPs and the city needs to be able to offer this level of accommodation."
