Majid Al Futtaim is moving into the heart of Abu Dhabi with a new Dh1.4 billion City Centre mall.

Construction on City Centre Al Jazira, located between Airport Road and Muroor Road, will begin in October 2017.

The mall is scheduled for completion in early 2021. The project is a joint venture between the retail giant and Al Jazira Sports and Cultural Club, home of the current Arabian Gulf League champions.

City Centre Al Jazira will be anchored with a Carrefour Hypermarket. It will include 153 retail stores, a 15-screen VOX Cinema and a Magic Planet family entertainment destination.

It will also house a City Centre Clinic and a fitness centre, as well as indoor and alfresco dining choices. The total leasable area is expected to be 80,500 square metres within a built-up area of 215,000 sqm, Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) said.

“We are thrilled by the opportunity to play a role in the creation of a new lifestyle destination that will bring people together in the heart of the capital, Abu Dhabi,” said Saeed Mohammed bin Batti Al Qubaisi, Chairman of Al Jazira for Investment at Al Jazira Sports and Cultural Club.

Mohammed Haji Khouri, chairman of the joint venture, said the new shopping destination is an important addition to Al Jazira’s ambitions to diversify its investments.

The planned mall is part of MAF’s wider goal to increase its total investment in the UAE by Dh30bn by 2026.
