Let it snow, indoors, in Saudi Arabia

Alqasr Mall in Riyadh will be getting an indoor "snow village" under an agreement between Dar Al Arkan Real Estate Development and Al Othaim.

Penguins could soon be heading to a mall in Saudi Arabia. An indoor “snow village” is planned for a mall in Riyadh.

Dar Al Arkan Real Estate Development, the developer of Alqasr Mall in Riyadh, has signed an agreement with Al Othaim, which will lease space in the shopping centre to create the snow attraction, it was announced this week.

No further information has been disclosed on the “snow village”, its size, and what it will feature exactly, but observers have already drawn comparisons with Ski Dubai in Mall of the Emirates.

Majid Al Futtaim, the developer of Ski Dubai, plans to open an indoor ski slope in Egypt in a couple of years.

The ski centre and snow park in Dubai recently became home to a colony of penguins.
