Drake & Scull Engineering said yesterday that it had received a contract worth Dh172 million for a district cooling plant at a residential complex in Abu Dhabi.
The company, a unit of Drake & Scull International, said that work had begun on the five-chiller plant and should be completed in the fourth quarter of next year.
It said the plant would have a capacity of 12,500 tonnes of refrigeration (one tonne of refrigeration equals the consumption of one tonne of ice per day).
The company did not specify the residential complex in question, but said it has 1,357 units ranging from one-bedroom apartment to four-bedroom villas.
