Contact centre agents, compliance managers and partnership managers are the most applied-for jobs in the UAE this year during the Covid-19 pandemic, according to LinkedIn, which analysed applications during March and April.

The professional network found the top applied-for roles centre on the country’s greater need for agility and resilience as the pandemic reshapes the economy and supply and demand in corporate hiring across the UAE and wider region.

“Over the last two months, there has been an increase in demand from applicants for roles in industries such as software and IT services, transportation and logistics, as well as consumer goods," said Arda Atalay, head of Mena private sector at LinkedIn Talent Solutions.

"As a result of the pandemic and changing consumer needs, new opportunities are emerging for job seekers in these industries.”

As the coronavirus spread across the globe, it forced countries to implement strict movement restrictions, which paralysed industries as businesses, schools and shops closed with many losing their jobs or experiencing salary cuts.

LinkedIn says the top-five jobs now being applied for – contact centre agents, compliance managers, partnerships managers, customer service executives and head of operations – reflect the changing business landscape.

The roles with the highest month-on-month percentage growth in applications between March 2020 and April 2020 were included in the top five list.

“With several people continuing to see their employment circumstances change, it’s likely that we’ll see more people applying for these roles,” Mr Atalay said.

Jobseekers can stand out by updating their CVs and LinkedIn profiles, practicing interview techniques and gaining new skills, he added.
