Mohammed Al Ramahi will head Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, Masdar, following the latest government reshuffle.

Mr Al Ramahi “will formally assume the post of acting chief executive … in addition to his responsibilities as COO” after Ahmad Belhoul was appointed Minister of Higher Education last week.

This comes at a time when Masdar is looking to expand operations locally and internationally. Also on the books are more projects in Egypt as well as a 200 megawatt solar scheme in Jordan that was slated to be officially announced last month, but Masdar has yet to release details.

Mr Al Ramahi has been with Masdar since 2008, beginning as an internal audit manager. He moved on to become director of corporate services and financial affairs which led to being named chief financial officer.

Prior to joining Masdar, Mr Al Ramahi was head of the internal audit and risk management office at Gasco, an Abu Dhabi National Oil Company subsidiary.
