If anyone has proved the current buzz around 3D entertainment is more than just hype, it is James Cameron.
The film director's 3D science fiction movie Avatar is the world's top-grossing film, having smashed the record set by his previous movie Titanic.
Avatar has earned US$2.8 billion (Dh10.28bn) in worldwide box office takings, compared with $1.8bn for Titanic.
Mr Cameron will be giving a masterclass in 3D film at next week's Abu Dhabi Media Summit, along with Carlos Saldanha, the director of the Ice Age series, and Jim Gianopulos, the chief executive of Fox Filmed Entertainment.
Films directed by Mr Cameron and Mr Saldanha have grossed more than a total of $8bn.
Mr Saldanha's most recent movie, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, was also available in 3D, and took almost $900 million worldwide. His next movie, Rio, will also be shot in 3D.
