I seem to have lost my Dubai driving licence, but I don’t know what to do about it. Will I be in trouble if I report it and is it possible to get a replacement? BF, Dubai
It is not a problem if you have lost your licence and it is relatively straightforward to obtain a replacement. You no longer need to register the lost licence with the police and you can simply go to any RTA (Road & Transport Authority) branch to apply for a replacement.
You need to take along a copy of your passport, residency visa and Emirates Identity card, although it may be wise to take the originals with you too.
If your original licence is more than five years old you may be required to take a new eye test. If you want to get your photo updated you should also provide two passport sized photos. The total cost is Dh120. I understand that it usually takes less than an hour to reissue a licence.
