Buying a used car just got less stressful.
Dubizzle has launched an initiative to let a used car buyer see a vehicle’s history for less than Dh100.
The online classified ads seller has teamed up with CarReport – an international, independent used-car information provider that allows customers to download a vehicle history report to view the number of accidents a car has been involved in and check its mileage, market value and any manufacturer recalls on the specific model.
“Despite the great value used cars offer, many motorists opt to buy new cars as they feel this is a safer option because of the lack of information on used vehicle history,” said Jean-Pierre Mondalek, the general manager of motors at dubizzle.
“Through our partnership with CarReport, we now provide additional transparency and confidence to our users by arming them with accurate vehicle history. This streamlines the decision-making process for the buyer and offers the seller higher-quality leads.”
Through dubizzle’s new service, car sellers will be prompted to enter the vehicle identification number (Vin) when posting an ad. CarReport will then use the Vin to generate the vehicle history and create a report that buyers can purchase and download for Dh99.
“New cars sales in the UAE are approximately 400,000 cars per year, whereas used cars sales exceed 600,000 vehicles per year,” said Pascal Persoon, the chief executive of CarReport. “Information about the history, accidents and values are therefore essential for each consumer intending to buy a used car.”
He said the average value for a used car is about Dh55,000. “It therefore is a very small investment to track the car’s history and get an in-depth report before making this significant investment.”
