Industrial production in Abu Dhabi rose year-on-year in the last three months of 2014, according to data from the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi.
Scad’s Industrial Production Index, which measures output across manufacturing sectors, was 2.2 per cent higher in the fourth quarter of last year, against the same period in 2013. This was led by a major increase in the production of chemicals and chemical products – output – increased by 38.3 per cent.
The manufacture of fabricated metal products rose 10.7 per cent in the same period.
This comes as Scad’s index of producer prices, which measures the cost charged by producers of industrial products, hit a three-year low.
A collapse in the price of refined petroleum projects and coke, a fuel used in the manufacture of steel, led producers to scale back.
