Buyer of pro golfer Adam Scott’s Saadiyat villa gets to play a round with him

Golfer Adam Scott is selling his Abu Dhabi home - and throwing in a round of gold to sweeten the deal.

With the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship teeing off, one lucky fan has the chance to not only play a round with one of the world’s top golfers, but also get his house.

Masters champion and the world No 2 Adam Scott is hoping that as well as drawing thousands of spectators, the HSBC golf tournament will also be a great place to showcase the villa he is selling on Saadiyat Island.

And to drum up interest he is offering to play a round of 18 holes with whoever stumps up the cash to buy the property.

The Australian professional says he is selling the Dh22.9 million villa next to Saadiyat golf course because due to his schedule on the US and Australian PGA circuits, he is not be able to spend enough time in it.

Despite buying the villa off plan in 2008 for “around the same price”, when he thought he would use it as a base for playing on the European tour, Mr Scott has never actually lived in the property, which was finally completed six months ago, because most of his time is now spent in the US and Australia.

The sumptuous home includes a swimming pool as well as three living rooms, indoor and outdoor dining areas, an office, a family kitchen, a gym and a guest suite – and that’s just on the ground floor.

Upstairs (via a choice of two staircases or a lift) there’s even more space with another family living area and pantry, three bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, a nanny’s bedroom and a private terrace.

And the 12,000 square feet fully landscaped villa also includes a service kitchen, two maid’s rooms, a laundry and driver’s room.

“Whether the round of golf takes place in Abu Dhabi or on one of the courses in America or Australia, Adam will definitely honour the commitment to play,” says Andrew Colvill, the head of investment sales at LLJ Property, which is marketing the property.

He declined to comment on whether Scott would allow the buyer to win the round.
