Airlines at DXB will reduce flights they operate for 45 days next year when the southern runway will be closed from April 16 to May 30 for resurfacing and replacement of ground lighting.
Emirates, the world's biggest carrier by long-haul traffic and the home airline, will reduce flights by a third during the period. Emirates will cancel and reschedule some flights, and reduce the number of flights to certain destinations. The airport expects to handle just over 90 million passengers next year from 88.2 million last year.
In terms of cargo, DXB’s freight volume rose 2.5 per cent to more than 237,000 tonnes. Total cargo handled at the airport in the first 10 months of this year declined 0.9 per cent to 2.17 million tonnes.

Checks continue
A High Court judge issued an interim order on Friday suspending a decision by Agriculture Minister Edwin Poots to direct a stop to Brexit agri-food checks at Northern Ireland ports.
Mr Justice Colton said he was making the temporary direction until a judicial review of the minister's unilateral action this week to order a halt to port checks that are required under the Northern Ireland Protocol.
Civil servants have yet to implement the instruction, pending legal clarity on their obligations, and checks are continuing.

So what is Spicy Chickenjoy?
Just as McDonald’s has the Big Mac, Jollibee has Spicy Chickenjoy – a piece of fried chicken that’s crispy and spicy on the outside and comes with a side of spaghetti, all covered in tomato sauce and topped with sausage slices and ground beef. It sounds like a recipe that a child would come up with, but perhaps that’s the point – a flavourbomb combination of cheap comfort foods. Chickenjoy is Jollibee’s best-selling product in every country in which it has a presence.
