The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi has launched a new series of family-friendly weekend events at the legendary Al Hosn site, which is located in the heart of the capital. The programme called Weekends at Al Hosn will feature a range of social and cultural activities, as well as a souq that pays homage to Emirati lifestyle in the 1980s and 1990s. Taking place on seven alternating weekends between January and April 2020, as of this Friday and Saturday, Weekends at Al Hosn feature traditional performances and demonstrations, documentary film screenings in association with Image Nation, camel rides, Emirati cooking stations and stalls from recognised food and beverage outlets in the capital. There are also roaming vendors offering candy floss, roasted peanuts, newspapers, magazines and balloons. Salama Al Shamsi, Qasr Al Hosn director at DCT Abu Dhabi, said: “Visitors will be able to enjoy a diverse and immersive programme of nostalgic cultural activations across these seven weekends, with the participation of some of Abu Dhabi’s longest-running restaurants and stores that have great cultural significance to the various communities living in the capital.” The event, she added, aims to take visitors on a journey through the history of the UAE and reflects the cultural authority’s commitment to preserving and promoting culture and modern heritage. The Weekends at Al Hosn programme is taking place on these dates: January 24-25; February 7-8; February 21-22; March 6-7; March 20-21; April 3-4; and April 17-18. For more information, visit www.qasralhosn.ae _________________ Read more: Groundbreaking The Red Palace exhibit comes to Abu Dhabi New exhibition on late artist Kamal Boullata to show his last work Marcel Khalife and Souad Massi are coming to Sharjah _________________
