Mothers across the US and Australia celebrated Mother's Day on Sunday, including many A-listers.

Among the stars to share touching tributes was Gigi Hadid, who marked her first Mother's Day since giving birth to baby Khai in September 2020.

The model, who is of Palestinian and Dutch heritage, shared a number of never-before-seen pictures with her eight-month-old daughter, whom she called her "best friend".

"The rumours are true: my best friend, purpose, muse, greatest pride and joy!" she captioned the series of images. "I feel so lucky and inspired being your mama, my Khai! An old soul full of sunshine, you light up everyone's days! Thank you, thank you, thank you."

In another post, she paid tribute to her mother, Yolanda, as well as her grandmother. "Life! Miracles! Mothers!" she wrote. "Cheers to our angels above and to you Yolanda Hadid, the most inspiring mama and best Oma we could ever ask for! We love you more than words. Eternally grateful."

Here are some other celebrity Mother’s Day tributes:

Huda Kattan

The Dubai beauty mogul celebrated US Mother’s Day, sharing an image of her Palm Jumeirah home filled to the brim with red and pink heart balloons and flowers. “Happy Mother’s Day to all you beautiful mamas,” she wrote.

Mariah Carey

The songstress shared a rare snap with her 11-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, to mark Mother’s Day. In a holiday snap taken at the beach, the twins each kiss their mother on the cheek. “All things are possible ... Happy Mother's Day!” she captioned the snap.

Kim Kardashian

The beauty mogul celebrated an extra-special Mother's Day on Sunday, as it happened to fall on the same day as her youngest son Psalm's birthday. As well as sharing a post for him turning 2, she shared an image paying tribute to her mother, Kris Jenner.

"Happy Mother's Day Mom! There is no one on this planet that knows me the way you do or as long as you have! Thank you so much for giving us the best party planning skills, cooking skills and most importantly teaching us how to organise and run a household! Thank you for waking us up through the intercom every day at 6.55am even on the weekends to just be up for no reason!" she wrote.

"Seriously though, you manage to raise six kids and make it look so easy … I love u mum! More than you will ever know!"

Sophie Turner

Joe Jonas paid tribute to his wife, Sophie Turner, as she celebrated her first Mother’s Day since giving birth to their daughter, Willa, in July 2020. Sharing a photograph of the heavily pregnant actress cradling her bump, as well as a picture of himself with his own mother, he wrote: “Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mothers out there and to these two Mums.”

Katy Perry

Katy Perry paid tribute to her mother on her Instagram page on Sunday, while her fiance, Orlando Bloom, shared a post praising the singer and all the other amazing mothers. The pair welcomed a daughter, Daisy, in August.

“Got myself a real catch,” the actor wrote, in a picture showing the star dressed as a mermaid Photoshopped into his hands. “Sending love and respect to all the amazing people who have shaped our lives, supported us and loved us unconditionally. Happy Mother’s Day.”

Meghan Markle

The Duchess of Sussex, who is mother to two-year-old Archie and will welcome a daughter in the summer with husband Prince Harry, marked Mother's Day by making a donation to support homeless mothers in California.

Charity Harvest Homes shared the news on its Instagram page, revealing that the organisation had received a donation from Archewell, the royal couple's non-profit foundation.

"Happy Mother's Day today and every day to all mums out there. Thank you for your constant love, your tireless energy, and for showing up and being just 'enough'. We see you and we love you," reads the Harvest Home caption.

"Today, we are thrilled to have the support of Archewell Foundation, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and Procter & Gamble, who are donating diapers, cleaning supplies, and other essential items to ensure that the mums and babies at Harvest Home are celebrated all throughout the year."

The General Authority of Islamic Affairs & Endowments

The site has an e-donation service accepting debit card, credit card or e-Dirham, an electronic payment tool developed by the Ministry of Finance and First Abu Dhabi Bank.

Donated miles are used to sponsor travel for doctors, surgeons, engineers and other professionals volunteering on humanitarian missions around the world.

UAE currency: the story behind the money in your pockets
How the bonus system works

The two riders are among several riders in the UAE to receive the top payment of £10,000 under the Thank You Fund of £16 million (Dh80m), which was announced in conjunction with Deliveroo's £8 billion (Dh40bn) stock market listing earlier this year.

The £10,000 (Dh50,000) payment is made to those riders who have completed the highest number of orders in each market.

There are also riders who will receive payments of £1,000 (Dh5,000) and £500 (Dh2,500).

All riders who have worked with Deliveroo for at least one year and completed 2,000 orders will receive £200 (Dh1,000), the company said when it announced the scheme.

What are NFTs?

Are non-fungible tokens a currency, asset, or a licensing instrument? Arnab Das, global market strategist EMEA at Invesco, says they are mix of all of three.

You can buy, hold and use NFTs just like US dollars and Bitcoins. “They can appreciate in value and even produce cash flows.”

However, while money is fungible, NFTs are not. “One Bitcoin, dollar, euro or dirham is largely indistinguishable from the next. Nothing ties a dollar bill to a particular owner, for example. Nor does it tie you to to any goods, services or assets you bought with that currency. In contrast, NFTs confer specific ownership,” Mr Das says.

This makes NFTs closer to a piece of intellectual property such as a work of art or licence, as you can claim royalties or profit by exchanging it at a higher value later, Mr Das says. “They could provide a sustainable income stream.”

This income will depend on future demand and use, which makes NFTs difficult to value. “However, there is a credible use case for many forms of intellectual property, notably art, songs, videos,” Mr Das says.

Aged 18-24 months: If screens are introduced, it should be high-quality content watched with a caregiver to help the child understand what they are seeing.

Aged 2-5 years: Limit to one-hour per day of high-quality programming, with co-viewing whenever possible.

Aged 6-12 years: Set consistent limits on screen time to ensure it does not interfere with sleep, physical activity, or social interactions.
