48 years ago today a bourgeoning English group called The Rolling Stones entered the RCA Hollywood Studios to record (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction.
The 1965 song went on to become their first American chart-topper and a rock classic.
In interviews guitarist Keith Richards said the iconic riff came to him in the middle of the night.
Inspired, he promptly woke up and grabbed his guitar and recorded the riff on a cassette player, uttering the legendary phrase I Can’t Get No Satisfaction.
Today also holds bittersweet memories for front-man Mick Jagger.
42 years ago today - in 1971 - he married first wife, the Nicaraguan model Bianca Macias at St Tropez Town Hall.
The invite list included the rest of the band as well as Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and Eric Clapton.
The couple divorced in 1978.
