Image Nation to produce documentary about children with autism
Image Nation announced the production of As One, a new feature-length documentary about autism directed by the Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Tricia Regan. The film is part of The Autism Project, an initiative started by Sheikha Shamsa bint Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to raise awareness of autism in the UAE. Autism currently affects almost one in 50 children globally with more young people being diagnosed each year. The documentary focuses on autistic children, and their parents and teachers, involved in a theatrical and musical programme in the UAE. Court tells Bhoothnath producers in legal dispute to settle
The Delhi High Court yesterday asked the producers and writers of Bhoothnath Returns, starring Amitabh Bachchan, to try to settle a dispute with Sushant Supriya, a writer who is alleging the movie is based on a short story he wrote. Supriya's lawyers said the author "is not seeking an injunction against the release of the movie", but wants credit for the story. Bhoothnath Returns, directed by advertising great Nitesh Tiwari, is out in UAE cinemas on April 10. – The National staff
Divergent is a dual hit
Divergent has topped at the box office and in bookstores. A spokeswoman for HarperCollins Children's Books said on Tuesday that the young-adult series, which is set in a dystopian future, has been selling 500,000 copies a week over the past three weeks. The movie Divergent is based on the first book and stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Kate Winslet. The action thriller was released on March 21 and has already made nearly US$100 million (Dh367m). The first Divergent book was first published in 2011. Total sales for the series now exceed 18 million copies. — AP
