Steve Jobs film among Sundance premieres

Jobs, Ashton Kutcher's turn as Steve Jobs, leads a slew of star-studded premieres for the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, which runs from January 17 to 27. The premiere line-up also features Don Jon's Addiction, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut, as well as Before Midnight, Richard Linklater's third film collaborating with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy. Other big names in the line-up include Amanda Seyfried and James Franco in Lovelace, Steve Carell and Toni Collette in The Way, Way Back and Nicole Kidman in Stoker, the South Korean director Park Chan-wook's English-language debut. - Reuters

Klum heads to Dubai after belated party

After cancelling her annual Halloween costume bash after Hurricane Sandy, Heidi Klum threw a belated party on Saturday decked out in a Cleopatra costume. Her rumoured bodyguard boyfriend, however, was not in attendance. The proceeds of the party benefited the Red Cross's Hurricane Sandy aid. Klum is heading to the UAE next week to film an episode of Germany's Next Top Model at Atlantis, The Palm. The news was confirmed by the Dubai-based Filipino designer Furne One, who said he designed 46 gowns for the models to wear on the show. - The National staff

Bin Laden film wins NY critics award

The New York Film Critics Circle on Monday gave Zero Dark Thirty, Kathryn Bigelow's thriller about the hunt for Osama bin Laden, a new shove in the direction of Oscar glory. The critics group named the film best of 2012 and Bigelow Best Director. Also honoured was Daniel Day-Lewis in Steven Spielberg's Lincoln for Best Actor. The film also won for Best Screenplay as well as Best Supporting Actress for Sally Field. Rachel Weisz was awarded Best Actress for The Deep Blue Sea, while Matthew McConaughey won for his performances in both Bernie and Magic Mike. - AFP

Fleetwood Mac to tour in 2013

After more than four decades making music, Fleetwood Mac will hit the road again next year. But it won't be their last tour, Stevie Nicks vowed. "It's never going to be a final tour until we drop dead," said the 64-year-old singer. "If you never stop, you don't lose your energy." The 34-city tour with dates in the US and Canada will begin on April 4 in Ohio. The tour coincides with the 35th anniversary of their blockbuster 1977 album, Rumours. The album will be reissued with unreleased tracks. - Reuters

BBC adapting Rowling's Casual Vacancy

The BBC is turning JK Rowling's first novel for adults, The Casual Vacancy, into a drama series. The BBC's drama controller Ben Stephenson called the book "an extraordinary tapestry of modern Britain" full of "humour, social commentary and above all fantastic characters". The adaptation will broadcast in 2014. - AP
