Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi, the president and director of the Sharjah Art Foundation and the host of the Biennial, says that more people came to the two-month interactive art exhibition than ever before. Here we catch up with her for a Q&A:Q: Sharjah Biennial 11 is now over, how do you feel?

A: It has been an interesting and exciting process and we are very happy with the response we have had locally and internationally. We are now working on a range of exhibitions and events for the forthcoming year and hope to engage with the public through these events which include education and film programmes.

Q: Visitor numbers topped 90,000 – was this more than in other years?

A: The estimate was 90,000, but we were modest with our estimations and I am certain we had well over that number this year. It has been our busiest biennial to date!

Q: Were you happy with the general response from the public?

A: The response we had from the public has be great and we hope to continue this dialogue with them through other events and biennials.

Q: What about the art, will any of it remain in place?

A: Some of the work will be in our growing collection at SAF and others have been de-installed and sent back.
